About Chris

Stop Press:
In November 2013 Chris won the Triathlon England Coach of the Year award, along with NW Regional and England Participation Coach of the Year awards.

Chris has been coaching for over 25 years.

This began as a need to understand running more to improve his own performances.
Eventually the satisfaction gained from helping others resulted in more coaching qualifications being sought.

On switching to the sport of Triathlon, along with his competitive ambitions, his coaching desire remained and he followed the British Triathlon coaching route.

Chris is a UK Athletics Level 3 Performance Coach in endurance running and a British Triathlon Level 3 Triathlon Coach.

He is also qualified in Sports and Remedial Massage Therapy. He firmly believes a knowledge of injury treatment and prevention is vital if an athlete is to achieve his full potential.

Sporting History

Chris has been a competitive athlete for many years. Beginning in the 'running boom' years of the 80's, he became a regular in local and national road races, track and cross country events. With over twenty marathons behind him, including four sub 2:40 performances (2:35:26 London Marathon best time) he understands what is required to train correctly for optimal results.

His triathlon career began in the mid 1990s and he has competed in triathlons, both home and abroad, from Sprint distance to Ironman events. He has represented GB in four European and two World Age Group Championship triathlons.

Chris coached at Chester and Ellesmere Port A.C, West Cheshire A.C and until recently, and for over 12 years, at City of Chester Triathlon Club. He now concentrates on his private sports coaching.
